iPhone VS BlackBerry

In the smart phone marketing, Blackberry is the leading smart phone brand, but faces challenges from LG, Apple and Samsung. The top five smart phone brands among the Smartphone owners in the study are: 28% Blackberry, 22% LG, 20% Apple (iPhone), 19% Samsung, 14% Motorola

BlackBerry is a line of mobile e-mail and smartphone devices developed by Canadian company Research In Motion (RIM). While including typical smartphone applications (address book, calendar, to-do lists, etc., as well as telephone capabilities on newer models), the BlackBerry is primarily known for its ability to send and receive Internet e-mail wherever it can access a mobile network of certain cellular phone carriers. It commands a 20.8% share of worldwide smartphone sales.

Blackberry phone is iPhone's main competitor. But iPhone has two main superiorities in the smartphone.

  • Price: When the original iPhones were introduced last year in June, the price was $599 and then it dropped to $399 for a 8GB model. Now the prices for the new iPhones will be $199 for a 8GB version and $299 for a 16GB version.
  • Third party applications: Users will now have a wide variety of applications custom built for iPhones instead of just the standard applications. This will make iPhones more advanced than other smartphones available in the market such as the Windows Mobile, BlackBerry and Palm phones.
